Brooke Sauer

I am a photo-based artist living in Los Angeles, California.
When I am in the studio, I am working on a large body of analog cyanotype paintings, and when I am hiking and looking for inspiration- I always have my 35mm camera with me.
My unique cyanotypes integrate science & art by combining a very old photographic printing process (cyanotype), with my background in painting and my love of botany and the outdoors. I paint with a photosensitive solution that reacts to UV rays, capturing the silhouettes of plants that I find & press from my hikes. The result is a range of beautiful blue hues when finalized with water. My artwork reflects on our symbiotic connection to nature and to a sense of place, memory, and desire.

My paintings have been featured at The Other Art Fair Los Angeles, as well as numerous international exhibitions, magazines, and boutique hotel collections in California, Virginia, Georgia, and Florida. I also offer custom sized giclee reproductions of any of the images you see here, please inquire for a quote.
