Bulend Kaynar

I am Bulend Kaynar, a visual artist and photographer based in Ankara, Türkiye. I have been engaged with photography for approximately 35 years and have been a long-standing member of AFSAD (Ankara Photography Artists Association).

My practice has evolved from street and architectural photography toward a more personal and interpretive approach. I work with a wide range of subjects, including architecture, reflections, archaeological objects, traces of history, light, and abstract visual encounters. Photography is my starting point, but I do not regard its traditional boundaries as limitations.

Rather than documenting the world as it appears, I am interested in transforming familiar reality through selection, alteration, and reinterpretation. I look for moments when the recognizable begins to lose its certainty and the image enters a more ambiguous territory between observation, memory, and imagination.

I aim for my work to operate not only visually but conceptually. Color plays an important role in this process, creating emotional resonance and visual intensity while allowing familiar forms to acquire unexpected meanings. Mystery and ambiguity are essential to the way I want an image to unfold.

I do not work within fixed series...

I am educated in mechanical engineering at Middle East Technical University.
About photography I got training of photography technical and aesthetics aspects at AFSAD (Ankara photography artists community of Ankara), also I took in part in workshops about dark room activities, street photography, nature photography and advanced photography techniques.
I have learned about photoshop techniques using UDEMY lessons and working on digital photography also.
