Byron Christopher Williams

I am an Italian-American contemporary artist based in Perugia, Italy. I work primarily in acrylic and mixed media. My path to art began through science before gradually shifting my focus from scientific research to painting. My educational and mixed cultural background continues to influence the way I see form, structure, fragmentation, and the relationship between individual parts and larger systems.

My paintings move between figurative and abstract approaches by combining painted imagery with collage, texture, symbolism, and organic forms. I am particularly interested in contrasts, such as order and chaos, beauty and imperfection, the familiar and the strange. I like to show how seemingly opposing elements can coexist within a single image.

Rather than giving each work a fixed interpretation, I prefer to leave space for the viewer. The same image can reveal something different depending on what you notice first and what you bring to it.
