Catharina Bauer

Catharina Bauer (b. Wikbro), abstract painter and since 2024 Nobel Prize Diploma Artist chosen by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and the Nobel Foundation.

She is happy to work in various techniques. Her motif is mostly abstract, and she works with openings in the picture room where she plays with depth, surfaces and graphic elements in rich color. She has participated in various separate, group and juryrated exhibitions and is publicly represented at Elite Adlon Hotel, CEREB clinic, Sophiahemmet, the Red Cross Hospital, and Ersta Hospice.

The artist about herself:

"- Painting is my obvious means of expression, and some of the best hours of the day are clearly in the studio during the processes with my tablecloths - normally two or more at a time at the same time.

The time at the easel or preferably a large canvas directly on the wall is intensive work. Afterward, I can be amazed at what I painted, how my different ideas found their way to the canvas, where the inspiration came from right here, etc. I guess I explore my inner landscapes - often quite abstract, but you can say that I "build image” in an almost architectural way and sometimes figures also appear. I probably get inspiration from all around.
