Catherine Frances

I'm a creative from the Western Cape of South Africa. Born in the almost always sunny city of Pretoria, surrounded by nature, art and suburbia. I was influenced by my dramatic arts extra curriculars, from the age of 10, where I studied Russian poetry and the classics. My mother ran an arts and craft studio out of our home, so I was exposed to books filled with Romantic Era and Pre Raphaelite portraits, and the still lives of Dutch masters. My photography is a reflection of the combination of those ingredients. Otherworldly but grounded in (magical) realism.

I was educated at Pretoria Girls High School where I specialised in my final years in Fine Art Photography and Graphic Design. I completed my highschool years with five distinctions, and went on to become a portrait and fine art photographer in Pretoria and Cape Town.
