Catt Landa

Catt Landa is a self-taught and independent painter and a tattoo artist, born in 1981.
Of Portuguese and Caribbean origins, she grows up in Les Ulis in the Paris region.
Fascinated by Art, she begins by reproducing the heroes of her childhood. At the age of 10 she learns the paint, but preferring the direct contact with the medium, she decides to develop her artistic abilities by working with pencils, pastels, charcoal and blood orange.

After a Scientific Bachelor degree, she studies medicine at the University of Orsay. She takes lessons of Dramatic art in the school LES COURS FLORENT during a summer and at the French-American school F.A.C.T in Paris during a year, then she studies English at the University of Paris-Sorbonne, and finally returns to her first love, the drawing...
The hyperrealism is the movement which touches her appreciably most, and in 2012 she picks up back her brushes and studies the techniques of Renaissance old masters.
After several years of reflexion on the way of connecting her passions for the tattoo, the painting, the history and the literature, her artistic approach becomes clearer.
Her idea is to highlight the history, the life and the actions of the subjects which she paints, as a biography and pictorial dermobiography. She resums the most important elements into tattoos and in the composition of the artwork on different layers.
She adapts books by the same process. Each artwork represents a minimum of three months of work and research.

Concerning the tattoo, it is in 2006 which she learns alone to engrave skins for ever.
