Irish/Italian based in Dublin, Ireland. MFA in Sculpture. Exhibited in Ireland and abroad including France, US and China.
Over the years my art practice has been mainly concerned with an investigation on displacement, identity and on wounds (physical and psychological), some of these themes would carry some autobiographical experiences. I used materials such as marble and wax, with which I tried to imbue a flesh like appearance hoping to attract and engage the viewer and their subconscious. I was influenced by Freudian theories and by Canadian filmmaker David Cronenberg. With these ambiguous uncanny mutant forms, I wanted to celebrate pleasure and pain, life and death and explore my ongoing interest in mutation and the boundary between the conscious/subconscious mind.
My recent work attempts to investigate a metaphorical journey aimed to heal ones inner self. Carl Jung suggested that the experience of psychosis is a journey for the individual to rediscover something that has been lost to him and to restore a vital balance back into his life.
