Fine Art Sculpture Student!
graduating this summer. My work is to do with climate change and how the world will change due to a second ice age. The materials I have used to create my sculptures are paraffin wax, blue wax dye, various pieces of domestic furniture, and objects used around the home. Most of the things used in my sculptures have been recycled. The use of wax is to represent ice and snow textures, as wax has the qualities of frozen water. When the wax gets hot it melts down, then when it gets cold it freezes back into various formations, over time the wax bends and moves on its own like a frozen environment. The wax is also very delicate and can be easily broken and it seems to give my sculptures the sense of a fragile environment. I decided to use furniture in my sculptures so people could relate to the objects I was using, to create a sense of loss of these things that we take for granted on a daily basis.
