My artistic/cultural practice is rooted in my personal
experiences of growing up as a Nigerian-American, and
later moving to Nigeria as an adult. Being born to Nigerian
immigrant parents in America, and being raised in the
Afro-American world, I was exposed to a unique blend of
cultures and perspectives. I learned about Africa through
my family's cultural practices at home, as well as through
self-discovery and exploration. As an adult, my move to
Nigeria allowed me to fully immerse myself in the culture
and discover my artistic nature. My work is focused on
bringing together different forms, mediums and techniques
to create a cohesive and thought-provoking body of work,
to create a sense of connection and understanding
between the diaspora and Africa, and to promote a deeper
understanding of the continent's rich cultural heritage.
