Chris Oddie is a painter whose work moves between northern townscapes, portraits, and a symbolic world of puppets and toys. He works from atmosphere and emotional presence, letting observation and imagination collide. His townscapes draw on streets, mills, and overlooked corners, built through confident brushwork and decisive knife work that give each surface a physical honesty. Alongside these grounded scenes sits a symbolic canon of hollow eyed marionettes and charged playthings, exploring memory, vulnerability, and control. Across these interconnected threads, Oddie works with emotional geometry and truth in mark making, creating spaces where tension, atmosphere, and human experience converge.
