Chrissy Mcintyre

New Jersey based artist Chrissy McIntyre has been working in mixed media and paper collage for the past thirteen years. Her early works exhibited a cheeky fusion of pop art and British iconography. Over the years, her work has expanded to include animals, landscapes, architecture and street scenes, combining paint and paper mosaic techniques to create near-photorealistic pieces, while still retaining her signature quirky charm.

"My collages are made using tiny squares of magazines as my paint and pieced together one by one," she says of her process, "often mixing in watercolors, gouache or acrylic paint. Sometimes it's necessary to vary the texture and create visual interest."

Her subject matter reflects her love of travel, drawing inspiration from many scenes and places in her life she has experienced, from the quaint towns of England, to the beautiful vistas of Tuscany, and even modern-day suburban America. Despite the methodical process of her collage work, the end results are whimsical and inviting pieces which have been seen in galleries and juried shows across New Jersey, New York and Philadelphia and can be found in the homes of private collectors around the world.
