Christine Hathaway

"Hi, I am Christine Hathaway and it is lovely to meet you. My paintings are usually created from a place I have visited, a photograph, a memory, a moment in time or an emotion."

Christine was born in France, grew up in Paris and now lives in the UK.

She was influenced by many artists such as Vincent Van Gogh, Monet, David Hockney, Gustave Klimt, Alphonse Mucha, Louis Comfort Tiffany and Victor Horta.

Her inspiration comes from the simplicity of nature, the atmosphere of a place and the contrast between light and dark. She tries to achieve a sense of calm providing an opportunity to escape the chaos of day to day life and appreciates the wonder of open spaces.

Her preferred medium is acrylic paint because of its consistency, flexibility, vibrant colors and as it dries fast, it gives her the freedom of layering colors quickly.

Christine studied Tourism and History of Art in Paris. Being surrounded by so many wonderful museums and art galleries contributed to her interest in art.

She is a self-taught Artist but has attended local classes at the University of Hertfordshire, Insight School of Art in North London and the Edinburgh Academy of Realistic Art.
