Christine Alford

I have been practising Japanese brush painting for three years. I started painting in November 2014, when I joined an art therapy group at the Phoenix Art Gallery in Brighton. I use specialist Sumi-e ink brushes. The aim of Sum-e painting is to capture the essence or the spirit of the subject in the paintings. It is intended to evoke the poetry of nature using a range of different brush techniques.

I am delighted to announce that I have completed my City and Guilds in Art and Design at Level 1 at the Friends Adult Education Centre in Brighton. I have enjoyed learning new techniques and experimenting with different media. I have completed my City and Guilds in Art and Design at Level 2. I will be adding new work for sale in the new year.
