Christopher Marie

Christopher Marie is a Melbourne-based multidisciplinary artist whose practice explores human transformation, belief systems, identity and the structures that shape personal and collective experience.

After studying drawing, painting and design in the early 1990s, Marie built a two-decade career in commercial design before returning to fine art in 2015. His work combines oil painting, layered mixed media, symbolic geometry and custom-shaped structures. Rather than creating isolated images, he develops interconnected, long-form bodies of work in which meaning unfolds through sequence, tension and consequence.

His closed Alchemy Series (2024–2025) examines internal transformation through breath, energy, symbolism and disciplined self-inquiry. The subsequent Promethean Series extends this investigation into power, authorship, autonomy and human agency.

Marie works from Artflava Studio in Collingwood, Melbourne. In 2025, he was a finalist in the Collie Art Prize, received an Honourable Mention from the Circle Foundation for the Arts, and was selected by Homiens for its Meet the Artists initiative.
