Chuck Frost (b. 1999) is an American painter based in Southern New Hampshire. Her large-scale abstract paintings explore the forms, movements, and imagery that emerge when the subconscious is given space to surface.
Each painting begins with intuitive mark-making and spontaneous movement across the canvas. These gestural foundations become the framework for layered compositions, where smooth gradients and carefully considered color relationships bring attention to forms discovered through the process. Drawing inspiration from neuroscience, the natural world, film, and personal experience, Frost approaches painting as a process of discovery rather than illustration.
Frost studied Art Education with a concentration in Painting at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Alongside her studio practice, she works as an art and environmental educator at a nature-based school. Her experiences in education and her close relationship with the natural world continue to inform her approach to creativity, observation, and making.
Rather than representing the world as it appears, Frost's paintings become records of what the world becomes after it passes through memory, intuition, and the subconscious.
