Clarabelle Van Niekerk

When I wake up on a painting day, I actually skip to my studio. I relish the vibrancy of the delicious colors and the way they sing, play and pop. The moment I create a painting a love relationship exists. I become the painting. I lean it against the wall while I am cooking, watching movies or going to bed. I let the painting talk to me and discern what it needs to make it magical. There are times when the magic happens in one exhilarating moment and others when it slowly emerges at a snails pace. But when the magic whispers it's command it will force me out of bed after midnight and I will bow and obey until my heart explodes with joy.
