EDUCATION
Claudio Scalvi (Bergamo, Italy, 1954) trained at an art high school and began his visual research in 1974 with a large oil self-portrait. He later worked as an illustrator in Milan before devoting many years to osteopathy. This experience sharpened his attention to the body, perception, and the smallest forms of movement. In 2026 he returned intensively to painting, working mainly with watercolor and graphite on paper. His images move between recognizable fragments and open fields of white, where bodies, objects, and geometric structures appear, shift, and dissolve. Rather than organizing his work into fixed series, Scalvi develops a continuous inquiry into presence and absence: everything manifests, changes, and eventually disappears.
