Ruso is a contemporary artist born in Tbilisi, Georgia, and based in New York. Working across sculpture and painting, she explores how living forms become images, ornaments, and objects of desire.
Her geometric dogs and flowers bring together bold color, simplified shapes, and a sense of play. In *Scottie Dog with a Long Tail*, colored foam pieces connect with magnets to form dog-like figures that recall toys and design objects. Their appealing surfaces raise a question about contemporary pet culture: how can an animal be cherished as a companion while also being treated as an expression of personal style?
Flowers offer Ruso another way to examine the distance between a living subject and its decorative image. Her interest in shape and color extends to monumental sculpture, where familiar forms take on a new relationship with the viewer and their surroundings.
Across these works, Ruso uses visual pleasure to invite a second look. Her practice asks what we see—and what we overlook—when living things become part of the designed world.
