Adam Shaw

I am an artist living and working in the northeast of England, specialising in portrait, figure and still life realism. Through challenging intertextuality my work almost becomes post-structuralist and re-examines or redefines artworks of the past and examines that of the male gaze where it becomes present within an artwork. Revisiting the work of the masters in the interest of the human figure, its representation and visibility and exploring these continuous narratives and what can come from the imagery created. The work aims to create conversation for the viewer, bringing their ideas, influences and thoughts to the work.
