Among the factors ranked on-site (website optimization), related to the content and structure of the website, the most important is - as you know - the title. Second best bet would be - depending on the structure of the site - or internal linking of keywords in the most important structural element of the page, ie. In the headlines. But how to use headers? We analyzed a number of pages that can pass for defining the best trends in this area. It turned out that there is a general method of use thereof.
The basic principle is the hierarchy. Top-level should be marked with a h1, again in order of importance - h2 etc. All of them already have a standard font size, but nothing stands in the way to be customized using CSS (in accordance with the requirements of the W3C should not be use this tag font or similar), you must remember, however, that the more important the headline is always greater than less important. There should also benefit from lower tags, if you do not use higher. There is also a warrant to use all of h1 to h6 - if you do not need it just the same h1 and h2.

Specification HTML5 specifies that h1 can be used as the header of each successive section of the page ("Sections small CONTAIN Headings of any rank, but authors are strongly Encouraged to either use only h1 elements, or to use elements of the appropriate Return rank for the section's nesting level . "). Therefore, it could be as many as a dozen. But apparently it caused problems, because the specification HTML5.1, in the same sentence, part of h1 disappeared, and was just a suggestion to the individual sections using headers height suitable for nesting section. It should be noted that both HTML5.1 and even HTML5.0 are languages that are not yet effective, and work on them will be completed only in the coming years.
Here is an example of how you can select individual components to distinguish headers (click to enlarge):
