"Through time"
My artistic journey spans five decades and, remarkably, the spontaneous fluidity of the human body that I began exploring through paint, photo, and sculpture as a recent émigré from Perú in the 1970s, remains fully and boldly present in my current work.
In taking a tour of my pieces, viewers can come upon raw expressions of womanhood, the frenzy of a passionate embrace between lovers, the colorful vibrations of a natural landscape, and the meditative or whimsical exploration of our emotional selves. In representing the multidimensionality of life through a diversity of mediums, the unifying thread remains the distinctive manner in which I use line, space, color and forms. My perspective, in all subject matters, remains geometric and colorful with sinuous and elegant lines.
Most recently, amid political and social upheaval and the arrival of my golden years, my work offers something of a reprieve to the viewer; They can find inspiration and hope through the vibrational resonances between colors. And, in the deliberateness of the fine lines and small details, there is a reminder that even the smallest details in the universe that surrounds us are deserving of reverie.
