Cristina Cantone

My name is Cristina. I am originally from Sicily and work as a freelance visual artist focused in painting, illustration, and tattooing.

I trust working with my art. For over a decade, I have sold my paintings and my services; from commited works like private portraits as interior decorations, to larger-scale projects and editorial illustrations. I love traveling to investigate new places and people, catching pieces of their stories along the way.

From an early age I found myself attracted to The Arts and began a formal education in the field as soon as I could.

My project Vert_Ego was also born here in Valencia. Vert_Ego is an itinerant project that travels to key locations around the city. Its works reflect my philosophy about the relationship between our self interactions and our social compromises.

In 2020, I began work with the art of tattooing. This new profession walks parallel to my other creative projects and allows me to take on a fresh medium where I am able apply my creative tools and experiences to help others express themselves.

My formal studies began in Italy in 2007 when I enrolled in the Statal School of Fine Arts of Catania (my hometown). I spent eight inspiring years studying the Fine Arts with a focus in painting, graduating with a degree in New Languages of Painting.

After my academic education in Italy, I followed my artistic spirit in its desire to travel. It turned out that Spain was the perfect place to embrace and express the Mediterranean in my soul. I took up an Erasmus in Altea, Alicante and pursued my favorite topic: Color, as an intrinsic source and permeant nexus for and between human life and the natural world.

I next moved to Barcelona where I completed a Master’s degree in Photojournalism, Social Photography and Video Documentary.

The infinite artistic impressions embedded within me of the Catalan capital added to my creative inertia and my passion for acrobatic tricks, guiding and proliferating my work in the theme of Dynamism—and leading some of these works to be realized through live painting performances.
