Cyril Destrade

Cyril Destrade’s personal universe exudes a powerful optimism. He gets his artistic strength from a special treatment of colours that stream onto the paper grain with energy. The artist’s positive energy and love for life appear through his artworks. His imaginary world stands on the boundary between the narrative and the abstract; he creates a world in which a dreamlike fauna and a flourishing flora respond to each other, a universe where nothing is fixed, in perpetual motion.
The watercolour technique favours Cyril Destrade’s artistic project: he works using pure inks that he lies on the paper either with a paintbrush or a quill to get a more precise rendering. Abstract shapes arise from the encounter of different shades and quill strokes, sometimes, make their meaning more accurate.
The achievement of Cyril Destrade’s artworks is highly spontaneous;
he seldom retouches his works seeking to portray the authenticity
of his emotions.
