DANUTA OWCZAREK
She was born in and resides in Wrocław, Poland. She is a graduate of the University of Wrocław’s branch campus. She has spent many years deeply exploring the medium of textiles—knowledge she effectively applies to her work.
She creates quilted art—creative visual pieces that are layered and stitched, or that reference such a structure. In her work with fabric, she allows texture, color, and pattern to speak for themselves.
She is a member of the International Association of Textile Artists (SAQA) and the Association of Visual Artists, where she serves as Vice President of the National Board. Her work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions in Poland, the USA (group show in Houston), South Korea (group show in Jasen), Italy (group show in Rome), and at the Patchwork Festival in Brno, Czech Republic.
She has received awards at various shows and festivals, including the Artistic Textile Biennale in Poznań, the Quilt Festival in Birmingham, and the Houston Festival (where a photograph of her work was used to promote the event).
