Daniel Jay Freed

Dan Jay Freed creates an uniquely unusual array of oil paintings, watercolors, and drawings. He also does custom portraits of people, pets and homes. The works range from slightly surreal & humorous story based concepts, landscapes that are a mix of imagination, design and reality, as well as still life and plein air subjects. An example of a story based painting is “The Balloon Thief” in which a dog and his boy owner have stolen a bunch of balloons from a beach vendor. Dan refers to his story based approach as “Odd little stories that wouldn't stay put”. He calls his method “Organic Imagination” because ideas and compositions form in a variety ways, and he doesn't set limits on styles or technique (and because it sounds fancy!).
