Daniel was born in Belgium. After moving to the U.S. with his family at age 7, he attended grammar and high school in Chicago. He later graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a B.S. in Biology.


Daniel fell in love with photography in 1979. Back then he enjoyed shooting Kodachrome 64 in his Nikon FM and F3 cameras. He now shoots with a Nikon D7200, and occasionally an iPhone X.


Photography is his language for self-expression, as well as a creative release. Daniel Ravel creates fine art photographs which reveal the beauty of line, shape, contrast, pattern, texture and light.

Daniel's artistic style has been strongly influenced by László Moholy-Nagy , Edward Weston, Paul Strand, Man Ray, and André Kertész ..........
