Daria Herashchenko

My practice investigates the magnetic nature of human connection, with central themes of intimacy and distance. Through figurative imagery centered on the feminine form, I explore what forms love can take. Working primarily on large surfaces with oil paint and pastels, I collage photographic and fashion/advertising references, constructing scenes that feel familiar yet unresolved, and leaving space for open-ended stories.

My paintings shift between the ancient and the contemporary - between celestial, timeless figures and images shaped by modern fashion and visual culture. I am drawn to the simplification of form, where backgrounds and figures dissolve and reassemble into an ornamental, symbolic combination of shapes. I am intrigued by this in-between - uncertainty, contemplation, and shifting narrative.
