I am a Scottish visual artist living and working in Finland.
The absurdity of life is a loose theme that runs through all that I do. I treat serious subject matter, such as life and death, in a light-hearted fashion and give a little more weight, sympathy and emphasis to issues many consider mundane.
Although I do not make bold statements prophesizing a certain philosophy, my work can be read on many levels, and I often react to societal and political absurdities. I am happy if you laugh and enjoy my art simply for the humour, but it pleases me equally if you see something a little bit deeper in my work.
Above all, I am interested in creating a little world that is not too dissimilar to the one we live in; making the viewers laugh and see their everyday life in a new light.
