David Hubbard

I am a painter working with a restrained, simplified language of line and colour to explore atmosphere, memory, and quiet emotional space. My work often sits at the meeting point of land, water, and sky, using stillness and subtle shifts in tone to reflect how weather and light can gently transform a scene.
My artistic influences span early modernism and abstraction, particularly artists interested in clarity, reduction, and emotional resonance. After completing a Fine Art degree in Painting, I returned to my practice with a more intuitive and honest approach, allowing simplicity to guide both subject and form.
Working primarily with a combination of acrylic and printing ink on high-quality paper, I aim to create contemplative works that invite personal reflection rather than fixed interpretation.
