Dayna Chow

Dayna Chow is a South African artist born in Johannesburg and currently based in Hermanus. Working across graphite, ballpoint pen, hard pastels, watercolour and oil, her practice merges hyperreal precision with saturated dreamlike abstraction. 
Her visual language is bold, colourful, precise and whimsical. Flowers, insects, portraits and high-contrast abstractions recur as symbolic elements within carefully orchestrated compositions. Deeply inspired by music, dance, and spirituality, her process begins in meditation - isolating a feeling and allowing symbols, colours and imagery to emerge intuitively before meticulously planning each composition. 
Her work explores the interconnectedness of nature and humanity through a spiritual lens, with a particular focus on the relationship between femininity and the natural world.
