Deniz Ercelebi

I am a contemporary fashion illustrator and figurative artist
based in Virginia.

By training I am an industrial designer, with professional experience
in graphic design and two decades working as a UX designer in the tech
industry. That background shapes everything in my studio practice: the
instinct to reduce a figure to its most essential silhouette, the
structural confidence in composition, the precision that sits underneath
even the most gestural mark.

My work sits at the intersection of fashion and fine art. Runway scenes,
backstage moments and editorial figures rendered in Sumi ink, watercolour,
acrylic and charcoal on paper and canvas. Where my digital work demands
clarity and system, the studio practice demands the opposite: fast
decisions, irreversible marks, the energy of a figure captured before
the moment passes.

I work in two series. The Show is a collection of high-contrast Sumi
ink runway moments. After Dark is a more painterly body of work in
acrylic and mixed media on toned grounds. Both share the same obsession:
the body, the garment, and the precise instant of movement.
