ARTIST STATEMENT: The life of a line is my muse. Guided by my muse, I search for a perspective of a divine existence in our broken milieu where light is present. Through its lightness and heaviness, to its finite and eternal presence, I sculpt the line.
I am drawn to the body of a line and enter it through mark-making, using color and movement to produce light and depth. Influenced by patterns and the juxtaposition of specific colors, I am led by the sapient line to explore the subconscious and the effects these patterns provoke. Everything begins with a line; my muse holds my hand as I lose myself on the surface. I walk into a line and with my materials begin to unravel its mysteries.
INSPIRATION: I am drawn to life events and the emotional experiences that exist in our everyday life. I use these stories to created the movement that exists in my work. My passion for mark making allows me to seek and create these stories visually on the surface of my paper or canvas.
I have a BA from Bard College, a small liberal arts college in New York where I studied with artists such as Roy Lichtenstein and Richard Pousett-Dart. I also received my MFA from Hunter College in NYC as well as a MPS from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY.
