I am inspired by everchanging colour, light and dramatic scenery, presented by nature as well as nocturnal settings, often in the context of a suburban landscape. I am interested in the emotive response of the viewer to the same places depending on the time of day, weather, one’s mood, imagination, narrative and personal experience. I record what I have seen and experienced, painting atmospheric, poetic scenes that evoked in me a sense of awe or which I felt had somewhat magical, almost transcendental qualities. I work mainly in oils, painting in a style that references Realism and Romanticism.
I am a self-taught artist. In 2017 I joined Studio Fridays – a group of artists working alongside each other in a studio in Whetstone. Since then, my work has been shown at solo and group exhibitions and art fairs in London and across the UK.
