Like many creative people, I always found myself being involved in art in one way or another. I graduated from Emily Carr University of Art and Design with a 3D Animation Major. Thus, I had a twelve-year career in video games and animation. Participating in live painting competitions and winning them, however, laid a new foundation and realization that traditional fine art was my true love and passion despite not doing it for more than a decade. Along with experiencing the freedom and responsibilities of being a traditional artist, there is no better feeling than knowing that somehow, somewhere, my work can speak to another person and hopefully change their life for the better.
For me, art is a universal language that is able to communicate ideas and concepts, but even more importantly, can evoke emotions. This is one of the main reasons I always strive towards excellence in this never ending artistic journey. Afterall, if I, being the artist, cannot speak that universal language fluently, how can I ever expect my audience to understand me?
