My name is Dona Dhami, and I'm an artist originally from Punjab, India, now living in United kingdom from the past 14 years. i was raised in a creative and supportive family-my father was an interior designer, and my mother , a doctor with a deep love for art. From a young age, I was surrounded by colour, design and creative encouragement, and that early exposure shaped who I am as an artist today.
Now, as a mother of two, I continue to nurture my passion for painting. I find inspiration in the natural world-flowers, leaves, birds, and landscapes often find their way into my art work. I love capturing the delicate beauty of nature with a touch of abstraction, allowing emotion and imagination to guide the way.
Over years, I've explored many materials and techniques-from sketching, oil painting, and pastels to silk painting, enamel dripping and more. While I've experienced with almost everything, I currently work mainly in acrylic and water colour, which allow me to bring both vibrancy and softness to my pieces.
For me, art is not just a practice-it's a way of expressing love, peace and connection. I hope my paintings bring sense of calm and joy to those who see them, just as creating them does for me.
Art has always been natural part of my life- a gift I was told I was born with, deeply rooted in my family's creative background. While I grew up surrounded by artistic influence, I also pursued formal education to refine my skills and deepen my understanding.
I hold a Master's Degree in ART and Painting, where I was trained in a wide range of painting techniques and mediums. Alongside practical studio work, my studies included an in-depth exploration of art history , from ancient traditions like Ajanta and Ellora to Egyptian art and the works of Master artists across the centuries and cultures. This education helped me shape my appreciation for the evolution of art and its role in human expression.
Through my academic journey, I gained a solid foundation in aesthetics, composition, and techniques, while also learning how different artist approached their practice throughout history. This knowledge continues to inspire and inform my own creative progress today.
Over the course of my artistic journey, I've had the opportunity to showcase my work in both India and UK. These experiences have allowed me to share my connection to nature and creativity with diverse audience and continue to fuel my passion for art.
