John Rockas

Born in Upstate New York (1970), John Rockas enjoyed searching for art in nature & in the sciences. Patterns in nature such as the Fibonacci series, or fields of color in the sky are his inspiration. Most of his recent work entails abstract color fields and minimal compositions with several layers of acrylic on linen or canvas. He graduated with a BFA and painted for a while entering juried exhibitions and sold many paintings online. His influences are Rothko, Pollack, Johns as well as Alex Katz and Francesco Clemente. Since then, he decided to go back to school as he appreciated the sciences and received his doctorate as a chiropractic physician.
Today, he practices full-time as a chiropractor and loves healing people. He also teaches Anatomy/Physiology & Biology as an adjunct professor and paints when he's not spending time with his family.
