DUARTE BOTELHO
(Rui Duarte Botelho Moreira Braga)
1953 - Born in Lisbon on the 16th of April.
Designer, painter and architect.

I live in Lisbon.
I am married, have 2 children and 4 grandchildren.
From a traditional family, we are 7 brothers.
My father was an engineer and my mother speech therapist.
I really like to practice sports, and I was national rugby champion. I love listening music and painting... I love being outdoors, in nature..
My influence is the impressionist painters. My freedom the Pop Art.

1966 - As a teenager, I began my first studies of drawing with the painter Miguel Arruda.
1972 - Follow a free drawing course with the sculptor Hélder Baptista in preparation for admission to the ESBAL (Lisbon School of Fine Arts) Painting Course.
Joined the Painting Department, later moving to the Architecture Department.
1978 - Complete the degree in Architecture and I got a Scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

1986 - Collective painting exibition "Salão Convívio" at SNBA (Portughese Society of Fine Arts)
1987 - Collective painting exibition "Prémio Malhoa" at SNBA.
1990 - Individual painting exhibition "The Color of Heritage" at Pena National Palace / Sintra.
- Individual painting exibition at CTT Art Gallery (Lisbon)
1991 - Individual painting exibition "My Way" at Sofinloc Building / Lisbon.
1995 - Retrospective painting at Alvito Art Gallery.
- Participation in the Ibero-American exhibition of Painting and Sculpture (organized by the Portuguese Society of Authors)
1998 - Individual painting exibition "Open Atelier" at Picoas Forum / Lisbon.
2000/16 - Regularly participating in collective exibitions at the National Society of Fine Arts.
2017/18 - Participate with my own stand in 2 editions of "PaperGift" at Lisbon International Fair, where it represents original paintings and reprodutcions on paper (lithography and serigraphy).
2021 - individual exhibition of figurative abstract painting "The Art of the Earth", at the Art Gallery of Museu da Luz.
2022 - In preparation a individual exhibition about urban landscape, sites and monuments paintings "The Color of Heritage II" at the Art Gallery of Museu da Luz, scheduled for nex...
