After graduating as a painter in 1990 from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, Amsterdam, I worked for an art gallery and later for an advertisement firm both in Amsterdam. From there I developed into an independent stylist. Besides working for my own clients I was commissioned by architects, advertising firms and did fashion projects.

Finally in August 2021,at the age of 56, I decided to return to what I love and picked up the paint brushes and oil paint once since graduating from art school all of those years ago.
Without a plan I just started and it all came back so easily and with a tremendous amount of joy. To experience again that your brush just moves over the canvas, things you did not expect just happen and your only work is to be aware when the painting is finished, was exhilarating.

I have a little studio and therefore I work with small canvas, but also because my aesthetic loves an empty wall with just one well positioned small painting.
There is some magic to that, your mind wonders; what is so special about that small modest work that it has so much room around it.
