David Corcoran, was born in 1967 Seattle Washington, USA. He grew up in Boston Ma and currently lives in Los Angeles.
"My current work incorporates familiar objects and images, realistically rendered, juxtaposed, altered or assembled with the intent to create a poetic synergy and emphasize the wondrous in everything, which is so often obscured by proximity and repetition. Manipulating matter something aesthetically and philosophically compelling involves struggle, force, teasing, cajoling and compromise. My body more than my mind tells me when a work is complete. A sense of relaxed epiphany accompanies the negotiated detente acheved when the resulting entity is reconciled with the initial idea. I embrace the human need for ego gratification while striving to produce work that, at worst is benign and at best provides some measure of redeeming value to the universe."

David Corcoran began drawing in grade school where he and friends enjoyed illustrating dinosaurs, whales and military hardware but their favorite was what they called The Bionic Head consisting of a head profile filled with gears and curcuitry. At age 10 David discovered his penchant for more advanced projects when he made a stop action film with the familys super 8 camera employing a robot action figure and including a fiery special effect. On school trips to the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, where he grew up, David was hugely impressed by, the old master oil paintings, the collections of ancient art and artifacts and the ceiling frescos depicting angels and cherubs. In high school art classes Davids talents for drawing, painting and sculpture were pointed out and encouraged by some great teachers. After High school David spent a summer hitch-hiking around Europe reinforcing his passion for art and developing new passions for architecture, urban planning and industrial design.
