EDUCATION
Edgar Wittek is a Polish-British cinematographer, director, editor and fine-art photographer working between the United Kingdom and Poland. His practice moves between cinema and still photography, treating both as connected ways of observing gesture, light, space and human behaviour. His photographs focus on solitary figures, commercial environments, public space and the visual structures that shape contemporary life. Working with analogue and digital processes, he explores consumer culture, isolation, surveillance, identity and the relationship between individuals and the built landscape. Each image operates as a fragment suspended between documentary observation and cinematic fiction. Wittek is also co-founder of Frame Proscenium, a film and moving-image studio established in Scotland in 2010. His experience in cinematography informs the precise use of composition, available light, colour and spatial rhythm throughout his photographic work.
