Edite Melo

Born in Torres Vedras, 1947.
Lives in Lisbon and Torres Vedras, where is located her studio. Graduated in Business Management, but since early age and in parallel with her career, she dedicated herself to painting exploring different materials and technics.
Since 1987 exhibits individually and also with other painters and her works can be found in several institutions and private collectors in Portugal and also abroad.
In 2001 began a new phase in her painting finding in the abstract her true form of expression, where freedom to express her feelings is shown in a very own style.
Her paintings were a source of inspiration to poet São Gonçalves, with who published the book The Soul of Colour in 2013, where poetry happens in a perfect symbiosis and 2019 published Arts in Dialogue.
