Edson Kaminski

Edson Kaminski is a Curitiba-based architect and self-taught sculptor.
For thirty years, wood called to him. In 2014, he answered: he left his architecture practice and immersed himself in workshops and residencies across Brazil, the United States, and Europe – learning techniques, materials, and the language of the handmade.

In 2020, he founded PraSer Objetos, a studio dedicated to transforming rescued urban wood, old roofs, discarded doors, fallen branches, into one-of-a-kind pieces, carved entirely by hand, without molds or catalogs.

His work began with jewelry, exploring how wood behaves close to the body, its weight, texture, and imperfection. He then moved into decorative objects: candle holders, boxes, and spinning tops, each turned from two anonymous woods and resting on a third species – a playful xylotheque meant to be touched, spun, and collected.

Today, his practice centers on sculpture. Os Guardiões (The Guardians) are small, ancestral forms (up to 20cm) that guard what is easily lost: the right word, the forgotten path, the healing gesture. Each Guardian has a name and a story – not a description, but an integral part of the work itself.
