Eduard Warkentin

I am a self-taught artist who studied interaction design and has been working as a freelance UX designer. I have been painting for more than 10 years now, working predominantly in oil on aluminium Dibond. I live and work in Potsdam/Berlin.

My paintings reflect places of my life. Places where I often am or have been. Places that have shaped me. I draw the motifs from my own photographs, but the painting goes beyond the purely visual. My aim is to capture the atmosphere of a place as I perceive it – perceptible in the composition, choice of motif, colouring and technique. Each work is an expression of personal experience and the mood that a place leaves me with.

An expression of my perception and a contemporary document at the same time. Although the visual language is strongly influenced by graphic reduction, abstraction and impressionism, the motifs remain historically and perspectively reliable. The result is artworks that capture the atmosphere of a place and also function as contemporary documents.
