Elefteria Vlavianos

Elefteria approaches painting as a visual translation that hovers in the gap between representation and abstract painting. Imagery in her work is derived from her Greek/ Armenian heritage and her pleasure in the smallest of cultural objects that are often displaced. In her paintings – some left as simply as a vibration of color, Elefteria explores how color, line, marks and structure can re-articulate a past cultural aesthetic into a contemporary context. Continued themes within her work are time, vibration and memory.
