Elise’s art explores her deep-rooted connection to this land, drawing inspiration from both traditional painting techniques and her background in textiles. Each piece tells the stories of her known history, reflecting the complex layers of displacement experienced by her convict ancestors and the lasting impact of colonisation. Through these works, she aims to capture the raw essence of the land, embedding elements that evoke memory, resilience, and loss. Her practice is a fusion of texture, material, and narrative, creating spaces for reflection on identity, heritage, and the lasting imprints of the past.
Elise Judd's work deals often with the topic of the female form. She likes to explore the place that women hold in society, which sits between expectation and freedom of choice.
Elise works in a variety of mediums, selecting the appropriate medium to best convey the message or mood of the painting. She is formally trained in visual arts and her interest in textiles often comes through in her application of paint and selection of materials.
