Ellen Cherriman is a contemporary figurative artist from Sussex, U.K., who has previously exhibited her work in London. Ellen is a student reading psychology, which deeply influences her work when capturing the human condition by exploring themes of movement, emotion, and the inner self. ‘Each piece I create is a reflection of my own perspective of the physical movement of the human form and its flow, manipulated by the internal state of the being.’.
Ellen’s aims to create work that impacts people on a visceral level, inspiring them to connect with themselves introspectively. ‘I am mesmerised by the narrative and composition of figurative art. I explore this myself in my own work, whether this is in the form of physical expression, the environment, or even movement in the social and political sense. I aim to produce thought provoking and intriguing work, showcasing internal motives of the human figure.’
Ellen takes her inspiration from other contemporary figurative artists, drawing together the styles and techniques of artists such as Iryna Yermolova and Alex Kanevsky. While she primarily works with acrylic, she also enjoys working with other mediums and explores other branches of fine art.
