Emerging artist Emma Doig is a recent Fine Art honours degree graduate from Duncan of Jordanstone, University of Dundee. Her expressive work combines technical skill with great energy, resulting in fleeting images of the body in movement. She is an upcoming artist who works mainly with large-scale figurative oil painting. She has recently graduated and explains that her work mainly focuses on ideas of transition. "I see transition as a relational experience as everyone goes through a shift at some point. Whether this is an emotional or even physical shift, I communicate these ideas through the illusion of fixed motion or fixed state of being. The figure is captured in mid-air, a mix of colour, turbulent yet serene. Emotions are captured in a flux of movement, yet they are fleeting. Each mark in itself is an imprint of self-expression."
