Emma O'Bong

My work seeks to draw attention to the ongoing modification of our environment, addressing themes of perception, recognition and memory. Cellular structures and particle trajectories provide some of the inspiration for the forms which emerge on my canvases, taking physical shape in the accumulation of materials, which sometimes include electrical components used in guided missiles as. Well as plastics and other discarded objects. Synthetic sensorial mechanisms are suggested, which in future may allow us to directly perceive the complex exchanges that take place in and around us on a cellular level.
