Emma Parker

I have an established (20+ year) career as a Fashion Designer.

My practice centres around painting and screen printing, with a focus on the possibilities of colour and hand-drawn and painted imagery. I am interested in how people construct meaning through stories and belief systems, and how this influences the ways we organise ourselves within society. I enjoy exploring these ideas to imagine possible futures through my own version of world building.


I work with symbolic and figurative imagery, combining elements that feel both familiar and strange. Figures, objects, and hybrid forms appear as characters within loosely constructed narratives, where meaning is deliberately not fully defined. These images often exist somewhere between humour and discomfort, drawing on visual language that feels playful and even decorative while also suggesting something more ambiguous or disquieting beneath the surface.


Colour is central to my practice. I am drawn to intense, saturated palettes that heighten emotional tone and create a sense of immediacy.
