Artist Statement - Brianna Young My work is rooted in the unseen layers of human experience—those fleeting thoughts, memories, and emotions that sit just beneath the surface. As an abstract painter, I explore the intricate dance between subconscious recollections and conscious creation, using unconventional tools and textures to evoke a sense of familiarity in the unfamiliar. Each stroke of paint is a reflection of my body's movement, an intimate interaction with the canvas that captures the raw energy of the moment. I use objects like skewers, bubble wrap, and various imprints to create textures that engage the viewer on a deeper, more instinctual level. This approach taps into the subconscious, often triggering personal memories or sensations that invite introspection. My art encourages viewers to pause, reflect, and engage in their own inner work—a process that resonates with my belief in the importance of self-discovery and transformation. Drawing inspiration from Jungian psychology, I view my art as a bridge between the inner self and the external world.
